YES, you can use the iMoov Astuto stand virtually ANYWHERE. Why ? Unlike many other stands, the iMoov Astuto is not bound to be used on a desk or a table. Thanks to its compact size, patented strap design, and embedded features, you can use the stand on your thighs, on a desk, on a table, your couch,… ANYWHERE.
Whether you are in a train, in a plane, in a lobby in an armchair, on the beach, in your office, in your couch… with or without a case or cover, with or without a keyboard – you can COMFORTABLY use your devices REALLY EVERYWHERE.
The major difference is the UNIQUE combination of the following 4 KEY FEATURES:
Multi-device & universal
Ergonomic working position & display near-eye-level
NO other stand in the market combines these essential features.
We tend to use our mobile devices more and more, sometimes for more than 10 hours a day and that 7 days a week. Often, we do not think about possible medical issues until we actually feel them for real. The iMoov Astuto stand does not only improve your posture in various ways, but can also help to prevent other medical issues.
First of all, the stand allows you to use your devices independently of a table or desk (e.g. when you travel, are on the couch or in bed) and you are no longer forced to over bend, twist and stretch your back, neck, shoulders, arms and hands in order to maintain your electronic device in a stable and safe position.
When you use your iMoov Astuto stand on your lap, your desk or table, it lifts the actual laptop or tablet display by up to 6.89” (17,5 cm). As such, your head and eyes are in a more horizontal position, you keep a healthier posture and avoid posture related pathologies such as e.g. the “techneck”, back pain, etc.
Last but not least, all electronic devices emit heat when being in use / being charged. When using these devices for hours on bare skin / or thin fabric over a long period of time, the skin is permanently exposed to relatively high temperatures – what may cause changes in skin pigmentation (also called the “Burnt skin syndrome”) and even male fertility.
To be able to use electronic devices in a comfortable way, with or without a table or desk, is actually the whole idea behind the iMoov Astuto stand.
It is so SIMPLE to use:
Open both side plates, and connect these by pushing both aluminum sliders into the locking position.
Turn the stand upside down (the black rubberized surface lays e.g. on your lap).
Push both aluminum push buttons with your thumbs, keep pushing while simultaneously opening the stand’s right and left legs with the index fingers.
When both feet are completely opened, release both push buttons. Both anti-slip straps automatically unfold.
Turn the stand. Put the stand on your lap. The Astuto gently adjusts to your thighs and the way you sit.
Place your device on the Astuto stand, DONE.
Numerous scientific and medical studies show that continuous daily work in front of a laptop / tablet PC for hours and hours, causes various pathologies, such as the “techneck”, sore eyes, aches and pain in the back, neck and wrists. By using an iMoov Astuto stand, you raise the display / screen of your laptop / tablet / iPad / smartphone or phablet considerably, giving your muscles and eyes the right posture and relief they need and deserve. In addition to that, you can use an additional external display with your laptop. You can extend your laptop screen and place both displays at a similar or same viewing height – professional, efficient and healthy work conditions are no contradiction.
The Astuto stand provides also an improved posture when placing your tablet on a table or desk, without fully unfolding the stand’s feet. Thanks to the small embedded feet on the rear of the main plates, the Astuto stand positions your tablet / iPad / iMoov Teclado keyboard with a slight angle, sustaining your hands / wrists while writing.
The iMoov Astuto has two embedded slots to insert a table, phablet or smartphone. These slots have a different angle each.
The front slot, nearest to the user, has a small angle and is therefore meant to be used for surfing and writing using the device’s build-in software keyboard. In this position, you have ample space on the iMoov Astuto’s right hand and left hand plate in front of the slot to rest your hand’s palms when writing.
The second slot, in the rear, has a steep adjustable angle. This slot is designed for surfing, watching videos and typing by using a sleeve-keyboard or the iMoov Teclado Bluetooth keyboard that is magnetically held onto the iMoov Astuto stand. Thanks to the adjustable width, the slot is compatible with about any tablet PC and cover. In addition to that, the angle is also adjustable.
Once unfolded, the front and the rear slot are both 12.91 inches (328 mm) long. Even the longest tablets, like for instance the Apple iPad Pro 12.9” fit.
The front slot has a width of 0.39 inches (10 mm). Thanks to its angle and rubberized surface, also thinner tablets are well held in place.
The rear slot has a variable depth between 0.31 inches (8 mm) and 0.55 inches (14 mm). As such, almost all tablet and smartphone devices, even with a cover or case, will fit inside the iMoov Astuto stand’s slots. Both slots are covered by an anti-slip TPE rubber, as is the surface of the iMoov Astuto stand.
If the thickness of your device incl. case/cover is less than above mentioned figures, you can use one or both slots.
The iMoov Astuto has been designed to fit all major iPad devices, tablet PC’s, smartphones and phablets fitted with a case, keyboard case or keyboard cover, for as long as the combined thickness is smaller than the iMoov’s slot width (see dimensions on drawing) and the case can be folded backwards in order to slide the iPad including the case into the slot. Should the case hinge be at the very edge of the tablet, you can still fully use your iPad or tablet and the case or keyboard case by placing both on the anti-slip surface of the iMoov Astuto stand (see application pictures). As such you can still work with you iPad (Pro) on a near-eye-level and in a raised position for improved posture and independency of any table or desk.
YES, the iMoov Astuto stand and iMoov Teclado keyboard are compatible with all iPad models and generations (iPad, iPad Mini, iPad Air), including the new iPad Pro in 9.7” and 12.9” – both in landscape AND in portrait mode.
Note that the iPad 1st generation can only be used in the stand’s rear slot. Besides Apple’s iPad tablets, the iMoov Astuto stands can also be used with Apple’s iPhone and iPod models and any other smartphone, phablet and tablet with or without cover or case, as long as they fit into the slots (see additional information about the slot dimensions on FAQ # 5).
The most comfortable and convenient ways to use an iPad or a tablet with the iMoov Astuto stand, is to use one of the iMoov Astuto’s slots – these slots provide different viewing / typing positions. The design of the Apple Smart Keyboard does unfortunately not allow sliding the iPad in connection with its Apple Smart keyboard into these slots, if Apple’s Smart Keyboard is to be used. However, you can still use your iPad Pro and the Apple Smart Keyboard by placing both on the rubberized surface of the iMoov Astuto stand. This applies to all tablets with a rigid keyboard case. The iMoov Teclado keyboard is a good alternative solution, as the keyboard is magnetically held onto the iMoov Astuto stand. As such you can still work with your iPad (Pro) / tablet on a near-eye-level and a raised position for improved posture and independency of any table or desk.
YES, as the Microsoft Type Cover keyboard connects to the Microsoft Surface on the lower side on the front side, the MS Surface and its connected Type Cover keyboard fit into the iMoov Astuto stand’s slots. Most of the time, you will use the rear slot, as it is the most natural way to use your MS Surface device with your keyboard.
YES, this is indeed perfectly normal as the MS Type Cover was designed by Microsoft to be used with a little gap between the keyboard and the table or desk. In our case, the table or desk is being substituted by the Astuto stand.
NO, you do not need to unfold the Microsoft Surface’s rear foot, if you use the Astuto’s front slot. But you can, if you wish to. If you use the MS Surface and its connected Type Cover keyboard, then you will use the rear slot, as it is the most natural way to use your MS Surface device with your keyboard.
The iMoov Astuto has been designed to fit all Ultrabooks, netbooks, laptops, notebooks and convertibles from 10” up to maximum of 17”.
NO, you do not have to unfold the feet of the iMoov Astuto stand. Depending on your position, you may prefer to use the iMoov without unfolding its feet. Pictures say more than a thousand words. Check out our Media section for movies and pictures where many combinations of devices and positions on the iMoov Astuto stand are shown.
The iMoov Astuto is the actual stand. Not only a laptop stand and a tablet stand, but a true multi-device stand. The iMoov Teclado keyboard is a complementary product to the iMoov Astuto stand and is designed for users who prefer to use a hardware based keyboard and have the entire iPad / tablet / smartphone screen/display available. In addition to the use with an iPad / tablet / smartphone, the iMoov Teclado keyboard can also be used as an external keyboard for laptops, when using the iMoov Astuto stand as a high-rise stand.
iMoov Astuto stand is designed for ultra-portability, as such it is foldable in its middle section and it has 2 foldable feet. Embedded magnets, internal mechanical hinge release push buttons and 2 aluminum sliders make sure that the iMoov Astuto does not open or close when folded or in use.
The iMoov Astuto stand is unfolded and ready for use in less than 10 seconds! In order to open the iMoov Astuto, simply unfold it in its middle. The embedded magnets will release both main stand plates.
Connect the right and left stand plates by pushing both aluminum sliders in such a way, that they cover both the right and the left stand plate.
On both the right-hand and left-hand edge of the Astuto stand, are two aluminum buttons which can be pushed inside in order to rotate both feet when you open or close the iMoov. Both straps are designed to neatly fold / unfold, when the iMoov Astuto stand is being closed / opened. The straps feature an anti-slip fabric in order to keep the iMoov Astuto stand well positioned when being used on your thighs.
NO. The iMoov Astuto stands are designed as IT computer accessories and cannot be used in other conditions or for other purposes.
The maximum weight for a stand is 10 pounds (5kg)
The iMoov stands are made of high grade ABS + PC plastic. The top layer is made of TPE anti-slip rubber. These materials are widely used in the IT industry and household appliances and are easy to clean.
No, this is very unlikely, if not impossible. The rubberized black top layer is a so called “TPE” (Thermoplastic elastomer). The TPE is injected in the mold used to manufacture the white main plates of the Astuto stand, made from ABS and PC. The warm injected TPE reacts with the ABS-PC plastic and they bond. Another typical application is a toothbrush having soft “grip” elastomers and a firm handle. Ever tried and managed to break the soft part from your toothbrush?
Some of our initial designs included as well such a side plate for a mouse. We realised, that it would not really make sense... weird... but it is the case. Who would like to constantly have to hold the mouse ? Probably not many people. We believe, that most users will either use the laptop's trackpad, the tablet's touch screen, the iMoov Teclado's trackpad or a mouse on a mouse pad -- all depending on the circumstances.
